Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix - as usual, the book is better than the movie. But the book, as I've said from my other post, is the one I like the least of all the HP books. So in this sense, what can I still expect from the movie? Effects.
.
For me, the book is always better than the movie & I guess most of the other HP book readers will agree to me on this one. Simply because the book has all the details & the complete story that the movie failed to show due to time contraints. But in fairness to the movie, the effects were great although this was already anticipated since all HP movies had great effects. I can say I am not really disappointed since I did not expect that much from the movie but I am still a full-fledged HP fan no matter what. After all, book 6 (Half-blood Price) is way way way better than book 5. =)
.
After watching HP, Jay-ar & I ate at MFM (Manhattan Fish Market) also known as Fish Manhattan. We ordered the Manhattan platter for two, which includes rice, french fries, prawns, squid & oyster. Even the food is a little bit expensive, I can say na Sulit tlaga dahil Masarap! Even the thought of it can make me hungry. Hehehe!
* * *
And I applied for my first credit card in Malaysia yesterday. It's from Maybank (Malayan Bank) - the biggest bank in Malaysia. The agent said that it was already approved and that I just have to wait the card to be sent to me. At first, I did not really want to get a card but the card is free for life so I've got nothing to lose. All I had to do was to give all the required documents & I was good to go...
.
* * *
I cannot wait for the Harry Potter book 7 (Deathly Hallows)! It was only yesterday that I have reserved my copy because at first I was planning to buy it from the Philippines. But I've learned that It's cheaper here by 400 pesos! So dito na lang ako buy! BechaByGollyWow! It will be released on Saturday!!! And another good thing about it is that I'll be having the "adult" version of the cover (see pic below) kc sa Pinas daw, ang available lang is yung kid's version. I cannot imagine that this would be the last book! I also feel sad about it kc matatapos na ang HP craze. I can still remember when I was still starting to go gaga over HP, we had a machine problem in one of my programming language classes during college to develop a Library System using Visual FoxPro. And I did a Library System for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizadry. Hehehe! My prof was actually impressed coz none of my other classmates thought of applying the system to a specific school while my system had a Hogwarts logo & other graphics and the book names I used as a test data were also those books used by HP. But of course, the system was also bug-free, otherwise, all the designs will be useless. Am really excited! Sana Saturday na! (^^,)

Anything But Ordinary (Nice Song)
by: Avril Lavigne
Sometimes I get so weird
I even freak myself out
I laugh myself to sleep
It's my lullaby
Sometimes I drive so fast
Just to feel the danger
I wanna scream
It makes me feel alive
Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please
To walk within the lines
Would make my life so boring
I want to know that I Have been to the extreme
So knock me off my feet
Come on now give it to me
Anything to make me feel alive
Is it enough to love?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please.
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please.
Let down your defences
Use no common sense
If you look you will see that this world is a beautiful accident,
turibulent, succulent opulent permanent, no way I wanna taste it
Don't wanna waste it away
Sometimes I get so weird
I even freak myself out
I laugh myself to sleep
It's my lullaby
Is it enough? Is it enough?
Is it enough to breathe?
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed
Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please
Is it enough? Is it enough to die?
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be anything but ordinary please
Ooh I'd rather be anything but ordinary please.
Sometimes I get so weird
I even freak myself out
I laugh myself to sleep
It's my lullaby

Great Movies
Last Saturday, I was able to watch Transformers with Jay-ar and the movie was really great!!! It's funny and the effects were just awesome. I love the autobots!!! =)

Today, I get to watch Die Hard 4.0, which is also I think a very nice movie. Effects and stunts were great and the story was like one of those 24 series stories.

And next Saturday, we are going to watch Harry Potter and I also feel so excited to see the movie although I have to admit that of all the Harry Potter books, the Order of the Phoenix is the one I like the least. But I have to say that I always enjoyed Harry Potter movies. I just can't wait to see it.

Dami magagandang movies ngayun... Sana laging ganito! =)
To those people who haven't watched Transformers & Die Hard, I really recommend that you guys go and see these movies. You will never regret it! Pwomise! =)
.

As of this writing, Jay-ar & I are in cold war... Honestly, sometimes, he can really be such a pain in the ass! Hay naku tlaga!
And just to note, I am removing tinker bell from my graphics on the left side. Tingin ko kc crowded na masyado tong blog ko... Hehehe!

Fantastic4, Work, Etc...
Woohooo! Andito na si Jay-ar sa Malaysia! Mabuhay! *confetti* hehehe!
Salamat naman at together again na naman kami… At nde na ko loner. =)
Last Saturday we watched Fantastic 4… Okay naman sya… Kaya lang parang sobrang payat ni Jessica Alba sa movie. Para tuloy kumapal ang lips nya at lumaki ang eyes nya.
But the effects were good and the story was, well, just okay. And I am so excited to watch Transformers. We already have a ticket and we are going to watch it this coming Saturday. I really can’t wait. Sana maganda sya kc syempre mataas ang expectations ng mga viewers… Sana nde nakaka disappoint.
Anyway, super na-harassed ako last week sa work. Panu ba naman, yung magaling kong TL, nde ako binigyan ng deadline sa enhancement na ginagawa ko. Take my time daw and just try to study the flow of the system while I am doing that enhancement. Yung enhancement na yun is not just a minor enhancement, mind you. Complicated sya at marami tlagang affected dun sa system. So masaya akong nag code at nag test. Syempre walang deadline. So pede ko I-try lahat and mejo sinasamahan ko pa ng konting surfing, chatting, etc etc. In other words, I was taking my time. Hehehe!
Tapos itong napaka galing kong TL, bigla na lang sasabihin sakin na pupunta daw syang Sri Lanka next week at gs2 nya daw isama yung enhancement na ginagawa ko dun sa I-dedeploy sa Sri Lanka. So that gave me only 1 week time to finish & test everything. Huhuhu! Super pressured tlaga ako tapos ang dami pa nde tapos… So last week, ayun try ko tapusin lahat. Awa ng Diyos yung last testing naming, okay na lahat. Pero meron pa kami another set of testing today … Sana wala ng error kundi matutuliro na naman ako nyan. Sa Thursday na sya pupunta ng Sri Lanka. So dapat by tomorrow, okay na lahat… Kc gagawa pa kami ng installer for everything. So wish ko lang at pinag pray ko lang nasa wala na error! Hay naku, buhay IT nga naman.
After this, meron na namang another major enhancement na naka assign sakin. Hay! Good luck na lang sakin. Hehehe!
Nag start na si Jay-ar sa bago nyang work yesterday. I am so proud of him. Tingin ko sa kanya, para syang bata na 1st day of school sa kindergarten. Hahaha! Sana maging okay din sya sa bago nya work.
Un lang… back to testing muna ko… Till next time!!!

Life After Sunlife
Woah! I have been neglecting my blog for more than a month now! Unbelievable. A lot really happened after I left Sunlife but I'm kinda sad that I wasn't able to create a blog entry regarding the things that have happened before I left Sunlife. This is basically regarding despedida lunches. :)
If i can remember it right, before I left sunlife I had 3 sets of despedida treats. One was the spa treat from VILLMA, another one was the lunch treat of Ms. A with the two others who were also going to leave her team (Jon & Lorraine) and the last one was the lunch treat of Ces with the whole IPAC & CIF team. (See photos below)

Am not really sure why I was not able to update my blog these past few weeks. It's not that I have no time, I think I was not just in a writing mode. Anyway, contrary to what it seems, I was not really busy at work. I started at FCS (my new company) last May 7 and basically, it has been a month that I have been working with that company. To tell you the truth, I cannot even imagine that I would be able to survive a month so this is like a milestone for me. Hehehe!
Let me give you a glimpse on how it is like when I left sunlife and moved here to Malaysia to work. This is basically the routine that I have with Jay-ar so far:
Weekdays:
*
wake up at 6:30 am
*
leave the house at 7:45 am
*
arrive at the office around 8:45 am (office hours starts at 9 am)
*
leave the office at around 6 pm - 6:15 pm
*
arrive at the house around 7 pm - 7:15 pm
*
rest for 15-30 minutes
*
cook dinner until 8-8:15 pm
*
eat dinner until 9 pm
*
wash dishes & fix dining table until around 9:30 pm
*
watch tv/dvd until 10:30 pm
*
sleep
*
and the cycle continues
Saturdays:
*
wake up at around 9-10 am
*
just lay down while watching tv/dvd until 11 am
*
cook lunch till 12 pm
*
eat lunch
*
go to mall/watch movie/grocery/shop after lunch
*
go back at home around 6-7 pm
*
do the laundry / iron clothes
*
play around for the remaining time
Sundays:
*
wake up at 9 am
*
take a bath/eat bfast until 10-10:15 am
*
leave the house at 10:15
*
attend the mass at 10:30-11:30
*
eat lunch
*
after lunch is a free time (we have options such as: go back at home, go to mall, whatever follows)
We sometimes go to wet market to buy meat for cooking, go swimming at the condo's swimming pool, go jogging, etc... (whatever comes to mind).
People At work...
I cannot really say that I have adjusted that much. I think if I left sunlife to join another company in the Philippines, then I would be adjusted by now (I guess). But working abroad is really different. I am not pertaining about the culture. No culture boundaries at all aside from the fact they really like spicy food (religion is totally a different story). For me, the difficulty is more on the language barrier. Its not that they don't know how to speak in English or I cannot speak or understand English. It's just that sometimes they prefer to speak on their own language, not malay language but chinese! By the way, I think I haven't mentioned that 90% of the population in our office are chinese folks. I cannot even recognize if they are speaking in madarin, cantonese, fukien or whatever dialect they are using. Don't get me wrong. People in FCS are really kind & friendly. I am not having a hard time dealing with them at all. In fact, I have made some friends already. They are really nice to me. It's just that, they are still different from the friends I left from the Philippines such as VILLMA. I guess I should not compare coz VILLMA will always be VILLMA and nothing can replace them. I miss them already and eveything that we used to do.
The Work Itself...
Hmmm.. What can I say about work? Work in FCS is lighter compare to the work I left in sunlife (so far)... And for the record, I am not in any way complaining. In fact, I would like it to stay that way. Work without pressure is just an icing on top of the cake. But without pressure doesn't mean I am not learning. I am enjoying my work coz I am able to do java programming, which let me enhace my programming skills without the pressure. I get to go back home @ 6 pm on the dot, which is actually good and again, I would like to stay it that way. Although, the system that I am supporting in FCS is much more complicated than the system I was handling in sunlife. Complicated not in terms of scope (bcoz IPAC is still a bigger system than IPNC) but in terms of the structure & configuration used. IPNC is a combination of many programming languages. It has perl, php, c, shell scripting and its core is java. It also makes use of firewall and its running on linux. So you see, being merely a java person is not enough to support this kind of system. You should know all those that I mentioned to be able to maintain the system. Good thing my team lead is that person so I don't have to worry as long as he's there. =)
Other Comparisons...
In terms of location, building, facilities and employee benefits... FCS cannot beat Sunlife. In terms of salary, well, that's a different story. And I admit that I already miss everything in Sunlife. My cubicle, the people, the CR, the enterprise, the food park, mini stop, watsons... everything. Sunlife office is much more organized than my new office. Maybe because it's a software house that's why there's a lot of PCs and cables scattered in the desks. FCS does not also enforce proper workflow and change management system. KM System is also still not in place, which kinda surprised me because FCS is not a small company. In fact, it is also a multinational company, which also have offices world wide. I'm wondering how they were able to survive without proper documentation of things... Oh well, maybe I am not just aware that these things exist in the office.. Hehehe! This makes me miss Merant, CPR and RFS. =)
* * *
Jay-ar is leaving me and will go back to the Philippines tomorrow for the second time. Huhuhu! Pity me. I'll be alone for a week or so. He has to process his documents in POEA and Malaysia Embassy coz he changed his employer so he had no choice but to leave me here... Well, I am not literally alone coz we have also some pinoy housemates here. It's just that, I don't have my jay-ar with me so I am so sad. Hope he can finish the processing fast so he can come back here soon.
And for the record, I am officially missing my family, friends, teriyaki boy, redbox, pancake house, tapa king, glorietta, landmark, SM and the Philippines in general. I cannot imagine that I will miss riding a jeepney and well, I also miss being in a crowd and I understand what the people are saying.
So that's basically it. Hope I can update my blog more often... Ciao!
